PostureMinder Education Edition has been
developed to help educators encourage good posture habits at the computer
Our award-winning innovation is to use any off-the-shelf webcam to continually
check computer users' posture and provide intelligent, target posture
reminders precisely when they are needed - when they're sitting badly
These gentle, targeted reminders help to reduce time spent in damaging postures
and continually reinforce good posture habits, preparing students for the years
of computer use ahead
Using PostureMinder in class
The starting point with classes is the PostureMinder ergonomic material. This
is a concise version of the training and self-assessment materials we developed
for use with businesses, and covers all key aspects of safe and healthy
computer use. Take your students through this material once or twice per year
(it should take 10-15 minutes) to ensure they understand the importance of good
posture and working habits, and pick up early warning signs of any developing
problems
PostureMinder Education Edition will welcome students each time they log on to
a computer with a simple message to make sure their chair is suitably adjusted
and advise them to keep their posture in mind
PostureMinder will then run in the background while the student works, using
the webcam to continually check their posture. Whenever they sit in a
consistently poor posture for a period of time, an on-screen reminder will
encourage them to improve how they are sitting
PostureMinder Education Edition can also be personalised with different colour
schemes, fonts and background images, so each student can set it up to reflect
their own interests and personality
