What about
"Big Brother"?
|
Because PostureMinder
uses your webcam to give you targeted posture reminders only when you need them
(when you're sitting badly!), some people are understandably concerned that it's a
"Big Brother" system, allowing employers to spy on them
Nothing could be further from the truth. PostureMinder takes a picture every
few seconds, immediately analyses it to check your posture, then instantly disposes of the
image. No images are stored or transmitted anywhere
Our only concern is to help you feel better and protect your health, we'll
never do anything to undermine that core aim. We've even given trial copies
to the UK Trades Union Congress, who are generally very concerned about
employers monitoring their staff, to reassure them that we're not in that
line of business
PostureMinder doesn't do any monitoring of what you're typing, your work rate, or
what applications you're using. The only information it stores is
information to help you keep track of whether you're improving your posture and working habits
over time (some people even like to hold posture competitions around their
offices!)
These statistics are only stored in your local Application Data area and remain
completely under your control. You can even delete them at any time (preferably
exit PostureMinder first!). Under Windows 2000 or XP you'll find the
statistics file in:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\PostureMinder\Log\postureminder.log
Under Vista it will be:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\PostureMinder\Log\postureminder.log
